Robert E. Jackson, Sr., 79, of Marion, Indiana, passed away at 4:20 am on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in E.A. Conway Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana, on Tuesday, January 22, 1946, to Willie Lee, Sr., and Maude (Fuller) Jackson.
On July 22, 1967, Robert married the love of his life, Mary Lois Hurst, and they shared 57 years together.
Robert dedicated over 40 years of service to Daimler-Chrysler. Outside of work, he found joy in sports, playing cards, and watching Westerns and classic films. He was a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Robert's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; sons, Robert E., Jr., "Squeaky" (Shannel) Jackson, Kelvin I. (Hope) Jackson, and Elvin R. (Carla) Jackson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Rolland Herbert (Keisha) Jackson of Marion, Mitchell T. (Cathy) Jackson of Monroe, LA, Curtis L. (Helen) Jackson of Monroe, LA, and Darrell D. (Brenda) Jackson of Marion; sister, Marion Teresa Standifer of Monroe, LA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy Bates of Montgomery, AL, Janie (Harold) Mitchem of Marion, and Sarah Frances Coleman of Anderson; and a tribe of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, July 25, 2025, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1204 W. 14th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Robert's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor C.L. Adams officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at Grant Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
