Robert Jacobowitz was born July 13, 1948 in Manhattan, NYC. He died April 4, 2024 from metastatic melanoma. Robert was valedictorian of his class at Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx and received his B.S. from the City University of New York School of Architecture. He practiced architecture and project management of commercial construction in the Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Honolulu areas.
A private pilot, Robert delighted in flying his float plane among the islands of Puget Sound. He was sought after as a lead at every dance venue and equally loved Zydeco, salsa, waltzing and swing. Music was important in his life. He learned to play the harp, and, having taken accordion lessons as a young boy, he returned to that instrument as an adult with a focus on the lively French musette music. Model railroading was a passion and he designed and built multiple intricate rail designs that delighted children and adults alike. Robert loved animals, especially cats and most especially his cat Hernio. Consistent with his quirky, independent attitude, he asked that only a tooth from Hernio be cremated with him.
Robert is survived by his partner Phyllis Sharp of Golden; his niece Kimberly Jacobowitz of Portland, OR; his nephew Robert Jacobowitz of Lake Tapps; WA, his sister-in-law Judy Jacobowitz of Normandy Park, WA; his cousin's widow Sharen Martin of Midway, GA and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Robert's mischievous smile, quick intelligence and brilliant design talent will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
