Robert Justewicz Obituary
Robert "Bob" Justewicz passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 71. Bob was born on October 4, 1953 in Detroit to the late John and Helen Justewicz. Bob was a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and doggie dad. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and their son, Robert "Bobby".
Bob spent his childhood in Hamtramck, Michigan – or the suburbs - as he referred to the city within a city. He was the second of two children, his brother John predeceasing him in 2021.
Bob attended St. Florian for both grade and high school. In high school, he played on the football and basketball teams. While in high school, he began working at Margolis Furniture in Hamtramck where he learned his love for furniture and sales. He attended the University of Detroit graduating with a B.A. in Communications. This is where he met the love of his life, Diane. They planned to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary this August.
Bob was a consummate salesman. He began his career with selling furniture and then was a manufacturer's representative for Simmons Mattress for 20 years. Eventually, he opened his own mattress store, SleepTime, which he operated for five years. He later shifted focus to selling mortgage products for Quicken Loans. Following that, he worked as VP of Marketing for IMS Laboratories for 15 years before retiring. Even in retirement, he continued to sell furniture at Macy's, where he had worked part time for over 15 years.
Beyond his career, Bob was a pillar of his community and his family. He became a Cubmaster and reinvigorated the Cub Scout troop at Hamilton Elementary School while Bobby attended there. He brought the number of scouts to almost a hundred starting from about 25 boys. He taught Confirmation classes at St. Thomas More Parish for 10 years. He has been a member of the Christ Our Light Parish choir for the past five years.
Bob was an avid TV watcher. He was a great fan of mysteries, particularly British ones. He also loved a good comedy. He was passionate about current affairs and history, particularly relating to World War II.
Moreover, he loved people, and many were recipients of his kindness. His laughter, warmth, and compassion touched everyone around him. He had a great love for dogs and his boys Vinny and Buddy Bear are going to miss him dearly.
Family will receive friends, Thursday, July 17 and Friday, July 18, 2025, 3-8:00 pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 pm on Friday.
