Penny MacInnes Macuga

Penny MacInnes Macuga, age 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on February 1, 1941, in Eveleth, Minnesota, preceded in death by her parents, Peter & Marie MacInnes and her twin brother Thomas MacInnes.

An incredible wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious laughter, and her generous spirit. She was the matriarch of her family and the biggest fan of "Team Macuga."

She was also a passionate and gifted impressionist artist who painted under the name Centava. Her work was featured in numerous art shows, and her paintings are held in private collections as well as hanging in the St. Louis University Museum of Contemporary Art. Her art was a beautiful reflection of the color and joy she brought to the world.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Daniel A. Macuga. The two were college sweethearts who knew each other for over 67 years. She is also survived by her three children:

Daniel A. Macuga Jr., and his wife, Amy (Burton), and their four children, Sam, Lauren, Alli, and Daniel III from Park City, Utah.

Brian J. Macuga, and his wife, Tisha (Straetmans), and their five children, Brian Jr. and his wife Isabel (Kelligrew), Tate, John, Joe, and Molly from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Wendy B. Macuga, and her three children, Walter Jr., Tyler, and Spencer from Park City, Utah.

She will be missed tremendously by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers and medical professionals who provided her with compassionate care.

Visitation with the family will be at 10am on October 16, 2025, and followed by the mass of Christian burial at 10:45am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Charlotte, North Carolina. Immediately following, guests are invited to a funeral reception at 9635 Tresanton Dr.

An inurnment service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 10:45am at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to a breast cancer research foundation.
