Robert Katt Obituary
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at Symphony Tri-Cities, age 89. He was born November 21, 1932 in Bay City to the late Harold and Gladys E. (Huebner) Katt. Robert married the love of his life Monica Wenglikowski on June 17, 1955 and she survives him. He was a proud veteranand served his country with the US Navy from 1950 to 1953. Robert retired from Sears when it was downtown Bay City as their store manager. He would later become a real estate broker for Top Producers in Bay City, keeping his broker license active to this day. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and visiting the homebound parishioners with their "Visitors groups". He was a very active member of the Dow Bay AreaFamily YMCA, Bay City Lions Club and the American Legion. Robert loved playing and watching golf daily, as well as the occasional fishing and hunting trip. He also stayed a true fan of both the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers no matter their records each year.
Left to cherish Robert's memory is his wife Monica, their four children: Becky (Gerald) Steinhoff, Vicky Sumner, Robert J. Katt, Jr., and Kellie (Todd) Vallender, five grandchildren: Olivia (Yasu Sakamoto) Sumner, Jodi (Cory) Sargent, Lindsey Vallender, Brittney (Nick) Saxton and Nathan (Erica) Vallender, four great grandchildren: Lucas, Jace and Evelyn Vallender and Henry Saxton and two brothers, Ken and Anthony Katt. Robert was predeceased by a son-in-law Randy Sumner, two brothers, Donald and Theodore Katt, one sister Marlene Tebedo and a sister-in-law Nancy Katt.
The Funeral Service for Robert will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy Ave., Bay City, MI 48706. Pastor Phillip Baerwolf will officiate. Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard and US Navy will follow the funeral service outside of church. Private interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends will gather at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street, Bay City, MI 48706 on Thursday May 5th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and at church on Friday after 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA or the Bay City Lions Club. www.squiresfuneralhome.com

I worked with Bob at Top Producers and knew him at the Dow Y for many years. He was a great Realtor and wonderful swimmer at the Y. He treated all clients with respect and gave them appropriate real estate information. He always worked well with other realtors and was always willing to assist newer realtors with complicated transactions. I will always think of Bob as someone you could count on to come through on important transactions. Oh, he was also a pretty good golfer! He will be missed!
