Robert N. Kauppinen

Robert N. "Kaup" Kauppinen, 81, of Davis IL passed away June 1, 2024. Bob was born April 9, 1943, the son of Jalmer and Lyla (Jensen) Kauppinen. A 1962 graduate of East High School, Bob served his country in the United States Navy from August 1962 – October 1966 aboard the USS Chikaskia based out of Norfolk, VA. After his service, Bob attended Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. Bob worked for 25 years as the bussing terminal manager for the Rockford School District. He enjoyed all sports but especially fishing, and golf. Bob took great joy in watching his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his granddaughter. He avidly rooted for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Connie (Cassady); daughter, Lori Ann (Godwin) Odior; son, Matthew Kauppinen; grandchildren, Oshobi J. and Oshiah G. Odior and Jailyn A. and Asher D. Kauppinen; sisters, LaRae Lundquist and Carol (Kirk) Fischer; brothers, Ron (Beverly) and Roger Kauppinen; sisters-in-law, Vicki (Dr. Gary) Foster, Pattie (Frank) Cesarek and Cee (Bronek) Ruszkowski; brother-in-law, Edwin (Marilyn) Cassady Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers Gene and Richard Kauppinen; brother-in-law, Rodney Lundquist; and sisters-in-law, Dianne Kauppinen and Ursula Kauppinen.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Rd., Rockford with a memorial visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Inurnment will be immediately following the service along with full military honors.
