Robert "Bob" Kennedy

Bob Kennedy passed away peacefully at home in Doylestown on Oct 14 at age 85 after a long bout with cancer.

He was born in Albany, NY, the eldest of four children. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and Union College School of Pharmacy. He then earned a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After graduate school he took a job at FMC in Middleport, NY.

He married his wife Betsy and they had a daughter, Meegan, and a son, Rob. They started a business, Kennedy Antiques, with particular interest in rugs, art, dolls, and furniture.

Bob worked as a research chemist for FMC, then moved to Doylestown, went to law school at Temple University, and became a patent attorney, most recently travelling worldwide for Pfizer as a leader on their intellectual property cases.

He and Betsy also lived in St. Louis, MO, and Mystic, CT, returning to Doylestown in 2010.

After retiring, Bob deepened his longstanding interest in art and antiques, working as an art dealer who specialized in Bucks County artists of the last hundred years. He was a frequent figure at auction houses locally and enjoyed researching new finds and bidding for the pieces he wanted. He made many friends in the art world and will be greatly missed at local auctions and galleries.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Rose (Havron) Kennedy; his daughter Meegan Hanson (Scott), of Brunswick, Maine; and his son, Rob Kennedy (Bobbi Jo), of Plumsteadville. He leaves five grandchildren: Caty Hanson Stern (Austin); Bay Hanson; and Justin, Jessica, and Jillian Kennedy.

Friends and family are invited to greet Robert's family on Monday, October 20, 2025 at The Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave, New Britain, PA 18901 from 10:00am until the start of a funeral service 11:00am. Interment at Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA to follow.
