Robert Keown Obituary

Dr. Keown was born in Rome, Georgia on November 3, 1936, son of the late James C. Keown and the late Sarah Elizabeth Carter Keown. He graduated from Darlington School, Davidson College, and Emory Dental School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dr. Keown was a Dentist working in private practice for 10 years in Dalton, and later taught at the Emory Dental School for 14 years before working for the Georgia Prison System in Milledgeville and Trion. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi, Xi Psi Phi, the Georgia Dental Association and the U.S. Dental Association. Dr. Keown was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Curry Wilkinson Keown; a son, Robert Keown and his wife, Rhonda Davidson; a granddaughter, Kelsey Keown.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11am at East View Cemetery.
