Melisa Carroll "Missy" Hampton, 59, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Rome, Georgia. Born on October 24, 1965, also in Rome, she remained a lifelong resident of the community that shaped her and that she touched in return.

Missy was the beloved daughter of Mary Dougherty and the late Ronnie D. Carroll. She was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, the late Preston Dougherty Sr. Throughout her life, Missy shared close bonds with her siblings-Lynda Edwards, Dee Stewart, and Cynthia Hash; brothers, Brian Dougherty, Kevin Dougherty, and Preston Dougherty JR; and she held dear the memory of her brother, Michael Dougherty, who preceded her in death.

She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Ashley Hampton, who brought great joy to her life. She was so proud of her daughter, and she always vocalized that to anyone she was around. Missy also cherished her extended family, including several nieces and nephews who were a big part of her heart. Her two nephews, Matthew Edwards and Camron Edwards, and her niece, Emily Green, were just like her own loving children.

In recent years, Missy made her home at Oakview Health and Rehab, where she found a vibrant community and embraced it fully. Whether it was playing Bingo or participating in the popcorn auction, Missy could always be found at the center of activity. Her enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures brought warmth to those around her and made every gathering brighter.

Missy's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and peace to those whose lives she touched.

Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
