Robert Anthony Kern ObituaryRobert Anthony Kern of the Parlin section of Sayreville peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. He was 65 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to the late Robert and Arlene Kern, Robert moved to Sayreville more than 35 years ago where he has lived ever since. He had a storied career having been employed by Charles Schwab, Albert Fried & Co., and others as a Financial Industry Professional throughout his working life.
When not working, Robert was a model car and food enthusiast. He spent time building replicas of classic cars, a hobby he took up later in life with his son. He was a member of both the Tri-State and Jersey Shore Model Car Clubs, along with being a staff member at many NNL East Car Shows. When he and his son were not building cars, they were spending time admiring them at Raceway Park and other classic car shows. As a food enthusiast, he loved grilling during casual get-togethers in the backyard or venturing off to a new restaurant (or an old classic like The Circus). Robert loved sharing a good meal with his family and friends.
Robert treasured any moment that he was able to spend time with his children, and now, his grandchildren. Whether it was attending a dance recital, a school musical, a soccer game, or graduation, or now watching his granddaughters grow up and being "Pop-Pop", "Popsicle", or "KPop" to them, Robert's greatest joy was his family.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Therese Kern (Ortense) of Parlin; his loving children and their spouses Ashley and Brian Wu of TX, Allison and Tyler Herrick of Highland Park, Robert Kern of Parlin, and Vanessa Kern of Parlin; his dear granddaughters Aurora and Norah; his siblings and their spouses Robin Veltri of Toms River, CindyJo and Noble Gouge of PA, and Mark and Sharon Kern of FL; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will take place on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with services scheduled for 6:30pm. Private cremation will follow.
