With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert M. Kitts (Bob) on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Bob was born at West Carthage Hospital, NY to the late Robert and Rose Kitts on November 21, 1940.

Bob valued family and was a devoted, loving, thoughtful husband to Sally Brown Kitts for more than 62 years. He was a loving father to 3 sons and their wives. Robert S. (Wendy), William (Sherri), and Andrew (Danielle). He and Sally have established a lasting family legacy by becoming the proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his sister Karen Kitts and had 2 other sisters, Joan LaBarge and Gail Kitts who predeceased him. He also had 5 nieces and nephews – Chris Metzger (Fritz), Peter LaBarge (Rita), Lisa LaBarge, David LaBarge (deceased) and Michael LaBarge.

Bob was a great proponent of education. He graduated from Carthage Central High School in June 1958 with a Certificate of Award for Outstanding Performance in Athletics, where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He graduated from State University of NY College at Cortland with a BS in Education in May 1962. Bob earned his MS in Education from Syracuse University in 1967.

Bob initially taught Physical Education and Hygiene at Central Square Elementary, NY for 6 years, before becoming a Guidance Counselor at Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square, NY for more than 28 years. He retired from education in 1997 after a more than a 34 year career in education.

Bob loved and enjoyed all kinds of sports as a participant, coach and spectator. He participated in golf (one of his favorites), baseball (had a tryout with the Mets organization after high school), bowling, downhill and cross-country skiing. In addition to coaching all his sons in Little League, flag football, and basketball, he was an Assistant Football coach and head Golf Coach at Paul V. Moore High School for several years. He was a frequent spectator watching his sons play their sports in high school and college and was an avid Giants and Yankees fan.

Bob enjoyed trivia, parties, and laughter, he was always a jokester. He loved being with family and friends more than anything. He was an excellent listener and always offered meaningful and relevant advice, as was evident in his role as an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, NC. He was the steady rock to his family who he loved with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
