Robert E. Larkin, 78, of Beverly, passed away Sunday, March 30, at home. Born in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Sarah (Cappilo) and Edward Larkin. He was the loving husband of Frances (Hesse) Larkin, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage before her passing.
Robert graduated from Gloucester High School in the class of 1964 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in history from Salem Sate College in 1968. Robert served honorably in the Republic of South Viet Nam with the U.S. Air Force during that conflict. He later earned his master's degree in history from Salem State College upon his return to civilian life. His interests included history, many musical genres, current events, reading, gardening, and continuous learning.
Robert is survived by his sister, Delores Larkin of Chicago, IL; his sister-in-law, Jane Hesse of Prescott, AZ; niece Anastacia Hesse and nephew, Geoffrey Hesse, both of Gloucester, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Sarah and Edward Larkin; his wife, Frances Larkin and their daughter, Tracy Larkin.
