Robert E. "Evans" Lewis

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, Robert Evans Lewis, age 81, passed into the presence of God.
Evans was the eldest of six children born to Virginia H. Lewis and Aulde S. Lewis of Haynesville, Virginia. He joined Bethany Baptist Church where, for the past 32 years, he served as a Deacon. He was united in holy matrimony to Faye Burgess and to their union, two children were born, Kimberly and Mark. He was lovingly called "Pop-E" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was the center of his world; bringing him great joy and pride in all of their accomplishments, talents, and the fine young people they are growing up to be.
Evans was a life-long farmer who took great pride in his work and his family's heritage farm, Oak Level Farm, established circa 1691. Evans served his community in a variety of capacities which included serving on the boards of the Richmond County Farm Bureau, the Richmond County Department of Social Services, and the Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District. Evans cherished his memories growing up with his siblings as well as cousins who were all a part of his close knit family life.
Evans was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney L. Howard; sister, Brenda L. Baber; brother, Gregory Lewis; and brothers-in-law, Ellwood Schools, Donnie Nash, and Jim Baber.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Faye B. Lewis; their children, Kimberly L. Glosser (David) and Mark E. Lewis (Michelle); granddaughter, LaToya H. Croxton (Darvon); grandsons, Conner Lewis and Quinn Lewis; great-grandsons, Ean Croxton and Jace Croxton; sisters, Barbara L. Schools and Janice L. Zumot (Samir); brother, Larry Lewis (Janet); and sisters-in-law, Donna Lewis and Layne Nash.
Funeral services will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Callao, Virginia on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will take place two hours prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
