Life Reflections
On Sunday, January 31, 1965 in Tacoma, Washington, Mr. Robert Loftis Sr and Mrs. Janelle Jones-Loftis welcomed into this world, a strong baby boy, who they named Robert Bruce
Loftis II.
Robert attended and graduated from Judson High school in Converse, Texas. Robert continued his higher education at St. Philips College, Washington University
where he studied Advanced Medical Laboratory, Nuclear Biological Chemistry, and General Medical Procedures. Robert accepted Christ in his earlier years of his life. He joined Willow Park Disciples of Christ Christian Church of San Antonio, Texas where
he served as a deacon in training, a teacher, and a preacher of the word of God.
Robert answered his call to duty for his country and served in the United States Army from 1985, where he served as E-6 Staff Sergeant for 22 years and 17 days until he was honorably
. During his time in the military he received many awards and recognition. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver & Mechanic Badge, Kuwait Liberation Medal Saudi Arabia, and
the Kuwait Liberation Medal Kuwait.
He also received the prestigious and honorable Purple Heart Medal, after having served in Desert Storm, where he was injured in combat. The Purple Heart Medal is a solemn distinction
and means a service member has greatly sacrificed themselves, or paid the ultimate price, while in the line of duty.
During his time in the military, Robert met and married his wife, Bernadette Yvonne Loftis on September 9, 2007.
Robert had a fulfilling career as a US Army Medical Laboratory Specialist and a teacher at the US Army Health Academy. He was also a member of the Free Masons. In his civilian
profession, he was a Microbiologist for Christus Health Good Shepherd Longview for many years until his passing.
Robert was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on December 1, 2022 in Marshall, Texas surrounded by his family.
Robert was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother, Janelle Jones-Loftis, his uncle, Willie Jones, and his aunt, Ruby Stepney.
Robert leaves to cherish his loving and warm memories; His wife, Bernadette Y. Loftis; Daughters, Dominique Loftis and K'Leah Nicole Loftis; Grandson, Kairos Godrick Jones; Stepchildren, Edward Haywood, JoAnna Haywood,Hannah Childs; Father, Robert Loftis Sr; Sisters, Ashley Loftis, Sherry Sutton, Sonya Edwards; Brothers, Reginald Sutton, Steven Sutton; Uncles, Isaac Jones(LaJene), M.T. Loftis, Jr,(Martha Ann); Aunts, Earlene Roberts(Billy Charles), Vielina Jones Drain(Winston), Ollie Mae Robertson, Sarah Vera Foxworth, Lois Faye Raspberry(Don Ellis), Ettie Jean Sturns(Riley); Cousins, Rodney Loftis, Paul Loftis; Friends, Demitri DD Hills, Wanda Loftis, Connie Jefferson; Neighbors, Chris & Penny, and a host of other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
