Robert Lowell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Lowell, age 74, a devoted husband, loving father, and respected member of the Hillsboro community, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 at his home. He was born the son of the late Russell and Helen Diven Lowell on September 21, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio. Bob proudly served as Captain with the Hillsboro Fire Department with 30 years of service, dedicating his career to protecting others with courage, commitment, and heart. Known for his steady leadership and deep compassion, he was a role model to many in the firefighting community. Outside of his career, Bobs life was grounded in love, service, and family. He was a devoted member of St. Marys Episcopal Church, where he found strength and fellowship. Family was at the center of everything he did. He was a loving and supportive husband and a proud father who cherished every moment spent with his family. Bobs favorite place on earth was Beaufort, South Carolina, where he and his loved ones enjoyed many vacations full of laughter, sunshine, and cherished memories. He loved camping and spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his brother David. Those who knew Bob will remember his quick smile, generous spirit, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynn (Monts de Oca) Lowell, whom he married on August 29, 1970; their children, Jenny (Jerry) Todd of Amelia, Geoffrey Lowell of Hillsboro, and Katie (Eric) Aurigema of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Macy Lyle, Ian Lyle, McKenzie Lowell, Elena Lowell, and Ava Aurigema; step-grandchildren, Kayla (Jared) Stephens and Gabrielle (Jacob) Kidd; great grandchild, Eleanor Stephens; sister-in-law, Theresa Lowell; and nieces and nephews, Angela Eichelberger and Steven Lowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Lowell and infant sister, Kathleen Lowell. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at St Marys Episcopal Church, 232 N High St, Hillsboro at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the service at 1:00pm. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made in Bobs name to Queen City Hospice, 4055 Executive Park Drive Suite 240, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241.
