Bob was one of the friendliest members of the Bromeliad society, had a way with words towards anyone, he could chat longer than anyone, he will be missed.

Earlier members of the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society of Fort Myers Florida will recall that Bob Lura was a member of our Society for many years starting in 1997 and served as President and hosted a least one party at his home for the membership. Although he remained a member until Covid, he hadn't attended many meetings since his stroke, I believe, about 12 years ago from which he made a remarkable recovery. I have spoken to him many times in the past years and he has on occasions attended some of our events. This is so sad for his family and his friends. I personally will miss seeing him and talking to him at the Flea Market in North Fort Myers, that and garage "sailing" was some of his favorite past times. He always had a joke for me, sometimes the same one. Much love to his wife, Lena and the rest of his family. Dr. Larry Giroux

We were good neighbors and both enjoyed our gardens, especially bromeliads. I miss Bob already. We often talked when he was sitting outside.
My sincere condolences to his family. Gisela
