Robert, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2025, in Eagle Bend, MN, after a long and courageous battle with his mental health until his pain became unbearable.
Robert was born to Linus Sr and Evangeline (Polesky) Madsen on July 26, 1963, in Redwood Falls, MN. After completing high school, he went on to attain a 2-year degree in the Natural Resources program at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.
On February 22, 2003, Bob married Erin Mae Bistodeau at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha. They made their home in nearby Eagle Bend. Bob was employed as a custodian at the Pillager school. When not at work, Bob was enjoying his passion for the outdoors. He took pride in being the best hunting and fishing guide anyone could ask for. Above all else, he loved his family. He spent hours scouting out the best hunting and fishing spots to ensure everyone had the best experience. He was also proud of the term the family created for him "Bobified". He always added a personal touch to make improvements and duct tape was a must have. He held a special place in his heart for kids and they all loved him for the special attention and fun he gave them. Bob will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents; brother Nels Madsen, brother-in-law Kevin Anderson; and sister-in-law, Becky Madsen.
Forever remembering Robert will be his wife, Erin; daughter, Kayla Madsen of Rural Hall, NC; son, Travis Madsen of St. Paul; step-son, Dustin Elgin of Deer Creek; step-daughter, Mariah Nelson of Nevis; grandchildren: Julian, Daniel, Lucas, Weston, Warren, Ivy, Boe and June; siblings: Lenny (JoAnn) Madsen of Redwood Falls, Randy (Diane) Madsen of New Ulm, Raymond (Karen) Madsen of Humboldt, IA, Sue Anderson of Spicer, Sharon (Al) Seifert of Blair, WI, Mary Madsen and Larry Madsen both of Morgan, and Jane (Dennis) Hillberg of Henry, SD; parents in-law, Chuck and Merilee Wagner of Bertha; along with extended family and friends.
