Robert Charles Manis was born on March 29, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. With a heart as big as his smile, Bob, as many of us fondly called him, journeyed through life with a spirit that touched everyone he met. On June 12, 2025, at the age of 75, Bob peacefully departed this world, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

As a retired educator, Bob dedicated his life to nurturing minds, a commitment mirrored in his cherished role as grandfather (20 Bricker grandchildren and 1 great grandson). He was often seen cheering enthusiastically at their sporting events or smiling proudly at their academic accomplishments.

A lover of the Game of Golf, Bob found joy both on the course (playing a round with sons, Joe, Andy, Chad, Josh, and Mike or with his “golfing buddy” and best friend, Randy) and also in front of the TV. He loved to share the highs and lows of the game with family and friends.

Bob’s love for nature and the beauty of life along the shore of Lake Michigan drew him to the serene woods of the Prairie Club’s Camp Hazelhurst, where he and his family built a life filled with laughter and peace. He relished the tranquility and community found there. He will forever be remembered as “the man behind the grill” at the annual Hazelhurst 4 th of July Picnic. It was a role he cherished, allowing him to show off his culinary skills.

Love for family was the cornerstone of Bob’s life. Noting the importance of family, “Poppa Bob” orchestrated twice yearly entire family gatherings ensuring that love and laughter remained at the heart of the Bricker-Manis Family.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathleen Bricker Manis, and a large and loving family: sons-Joseph, Andrew, Michael, Joshua, Matthew, Christopher and John Bricker; sons-Chad, Josh and Michael Manis; 20 Bricker grandchildren and one great grandchild. Though predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Mary Bricker; a brother, Donald; a beloved Aunt Cynthia and parents Nancy and Walter, Bob’s spirit lives in the hearts of those who loved him.

His journey may have ended but the stories and memories that Bob leaves behind will continue to inspire and bring joy to all who knew him. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the love and lessons he shared, and we will carry his spirit with us, always!

To celebrate Bob’s remarkable life, we invite friends and family to “A Day of Bob” on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at The Legacy Pavilion located at his beloved Camp Hazelhurst, Harbert, Michigan. This will be a casual, outside gathering from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. This is our way of honoring a man who lived fully, loved deeply and left an indelible mark of all of our hearts.
