Steven Lester Manis

Steven Lester Manis also known as "Steve or Uncle Steve" of Auburn, Kansas lived life in the fast lane-even if it was just down an old country road. Born November 22, 1952, Steve crossed his final finish line on May 25, 2025 in the same Town where his journey began, Topeka, Kansas at the age of 72.
Steve Never met a car he couldn't fix. His hands were as skilled with a wrench as his mind was quick with a joke. He was a technician at Quaker Oats (now Smucker's) for many years. He later shifted gears to work at Aldersgate village where he eventually retired from.
The passion for cars didn't just stay parked in the garage, it fueled a lifetime of memories at car shows, boulevard cruises, backroad cruises, and the mud runs where he was sure to be both the life of the party and the muddiest of them all.
Although some thought he was a little rough around the edges at first, once he warmed up to you, he was one of the kindest souls and was a big ole' teddy bear.
He is survived by his children, Bryan, Chris, Teresa, Heather, John, Dawn, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a nephew, Lee Atwood, and a sister who will all carry on his memory with love.
He joins his wife Taunya, parents Bessie and Lowell, siblings Jose and Brenda, and his one and only dog Hunter in Heaven.
As we say goodbye, we know Steve has simply taken the heavenly highway to the ultimate car show in the sky. Until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held June 21st from 2-6 pm at the Auburn Community Center(121 W 11th St, Auburn, KS 66402) in the gym. We will have some food and drinks but feel free to bring your own if you would like.
