Robert T. Mast

Dr. Robert T. Mast, aged 89, passed peacefully on November 21 at his home with family. Born in Detroit to Walter and Ann (Kutz) Mast, he was a graduate of Cranbrook School, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University School of Medicine. As an OB/GYN, he brought thousands of babies into the world at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Troy. In 1984, after many years of devoted service to Beaumont, he was appointed Vice Chief of Staff at Beaumont Hospital - Troy. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by an aggressive form of cancer which caused him to lose one eye. He was given two years to live, however with a strong will to survive, he thrived for another three decades.
Despite a busy medical practice, Bob always made time for family. Whether that time was spent downhill skiing, by the pool, landscaping, fishing and boating, or reading, he enjoyed actively engaging with his wife and children.
He was the beloved husband of Cathy for 36 years, cherished father of Greg (Eleanor) Mast, Linda (Joel) Mast Stone, Susan Mast Witkowski, Michael (Jill) Mast, stepfather of Lorelei (Seth) Borchard Berg, and loving grandfather of Peter and Will Mast, Benjamin Witkowski, Ryan, Elea, and Alexandra Mast, and Charlie, Zachary, Genevieve and Maxwell Berg. He is also survived by his former wife, Martha Browning Mast, and brothers Jim (Martha) Mast and Tim (Marilyn) Mast.

There will be a Memorial Visitation at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward) Royal Oak on December 13, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm
