Robert attended Port Huron Area Schools. He was a truck driver for over 43 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and he was a huge Nascar fan.
He is survived by his children; Robert Matts Jr., Ronald Matts and David Matts, stepdaughter, Robin Tokarski, grandchildren; Sheree Pingle, Dayle Crawford, Robbie Miller, Ronald Matts Jr., Austin Matts, Cory Matt, Derrick Matts, Corey Martin, Nicholas Groth and Kaitlyn Dulemba, siblings; Georgia (Bill) Clayton, Bonnie (Tony) Garcia, Roberta Bedolla, Janis Gerhold and Merle Matts Jr., along with several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Matts, sisters, Valerie Panczuk and Carmen Matts.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Jowett Funeral Home - 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron. Pastor Joel Franks will officiate. The visiting hours will be from 12:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church - 5879 State Road, Fort Gratiot, Michigan 48059
