Robert J. "Bob" McAloon Sr.

Robert Bob J. McAloon of Bloomfield, N.J., formerly of Glen Ridge, N.J. passed away on August 23, 2022 at the age of 79.
Bob was born in Teaneck, N.J. to Wilfred and Harriet (nee Hoover) McAloon. He lived in Nutley, N.J and in 1971 would move to Glen Ridge to raise his family. Most recently he resided in Bloomfield. He briefly was a School Teacher at Pope Pius XII School in Passaic, N.J. For 25 years he worked for the U.P.S. in Parsippany, N.J. first as a driver and later as a clerk before retiring. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #177, Parsippany. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Yankees, Giants, Devils and Notre Dame football. He also loved fishing, horror movies and horrible B movies.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Margaret Bartel and John L. McAloon, he is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 56 years, Roberta L. (nee Gregg) McAloon; adored children, Mary A. McAloon, Robert J. McAloon, Jr., Kevin J. McAloon and his wife, Candee, and Kathleen E. Bratchenko and her husband, Walter; cherished grandchildren, Josephine, Colin, Logan, Ava and Rylie; precious great-grandchildren, Bruce and Mary; dear siblings, Wilfred J. McAloon and Judith A. Piccirillo; and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and recently a great-great niece.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 4-8 p.m. at Shook''s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, Aug. 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Bloomfield, N.J. Cremation at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair, N.J. will be private.
