Robert McBeth Obituary
Robert David McBeth, age 71 of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Marion General Hospital.
Bob was born on October 25, 1952 to the late Robert Vernon and JoAnn (Millisor) McBeth in Marion, Ohio. On October 6, 1979, he married Marilyn Styer in Raymond, Ohio.
Bob graduated from Elgin High School, The Ohio State University, and Marion Technical College. He was employed at Marion General Hospital where he met his wife Marilyn in 1976. He was an orderly while in college, became a Medical Technologist in the lab, and eventually became the Section Head of Hematology. He retired from Marion General in 2019 after 47 years.
Bob was active in the Green Camp community. He served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his son's Boy Scout Troop. Later on, he was a vital member of the Green Camp Lion's Club, holding several offices and conducting fundraisers and Easter egg hunts.
Bob enjoyed packing up the car and taking his family on road trips. He also liked fishing from time to time in Lake Erie, gardening, and watching Ohio State or Cincinnati Reds games. He was often found sitting out on his back porch and watching the wildlife. He liked to "feed his livestock" as he filled all his bird feeders. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandsons, Henry and Sam. Bob will truly be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded by his parents, Robert Vernon and JoAnn (Millisor) McBeth.
Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 44 years, Marilyn of Marion, his children: Mike of Bucyrus and Sarah (Pete Bell) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his brothers: Ron (Paula Everett) of Marion, Tom (Mary) of New Bloomington, and Ray of Marion, his sister, Marilyn "Sis" of Green Camp; his grandchildren: Henry and Sam Bell.
Friends and family may come to honor Bob's life from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11am at Green Camp United Methodist Church, Broadway Street, Green Camp, Ohio 43322 with Rev. Nathan R. McBeth officiating. Donations may be given in Bob's memory to: Green Camp Lion's Club, P.O. Box 5, Green Camp, Ohio 43322. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the McBeth family.
