Robert McGrath Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Higgins Home for Funerals, Inc. from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Robert G. McGrath, 65, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on October 4, 2025.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on October 17, 1959, to the late William and Patrica McGrath, Bob and family moved to Warren, New Jersey, in 1965. Bob attended public schools in Warren, including Watchung Hills Regional High School.
Bob was ambitious and always busy, working at several positions before embarking on a long and successful career in the water treatment industry. He worked for the Township of Warren, and for more than twenty-five years, for the Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority. He was a member of the Water Environment Federation and of the Teamsters Local 469 union, serving as Shop Steward from 2013 to his retirement in 2022. He held several licensures from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, including C4 Collection S3 Public Wastewater licenses.
Bob was a long-time member of the Washington Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Warren and an avid fisherman and boater for many years, striking fear into schools of fish wherever he sailed. He spent many peaceful hours aboard his pride and joy, the Crack 'O Noon, most frequently docked at the Monmouth Cove Marina, especially when he was able to fish and crack jokes with his nephew, Billy. His life-long restoration project, a 1968 Mustang Fastback, remains safely parked at an undisclosed location. Still in need of restoration.
He is survived by his brother William E. McGrath, Jr., sister-in-law Deborah McGrath of Belmar, New Jersey, his nephew William E. McGrath, III of Los Angeles, California, his aunts, Sister Beverly Ornes of the Sisters of Charity at Convent Station, New Jersey, Marilyn Falvey of Connecticut, uncle Chistian Ornes of Texas and Colorado, and many cousins and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, followed by a 3:00 PM funeral service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hunterdon Health Foundation.
