Robert D. McMillan Jr., 82, of Burlington, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his home.

Born on June 2, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert McMillan Sr. and Waunieta Dunn. On January 8, 1964, he married Mary Ellen Norton. Of that union, they had four children: Faylea, Roger, Martin, and John. They later divorced. He married Janice Hutchinson, and they later divorced.

Robert was a United States Army veteran and served during the Vietnam era. He worked for J.I. Case for over twenty-five years, retiring from the company in the mid-1990s. Robert built and flew his own airplane, which he was very proud of. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating on the Mississippi River, and racing motorcycles. He was an avid marksman and loved to compete in silhouette shooting and trap shooting. Robert was a collector of John Wayne memorabilia and enjoyed watching a good John Wayne show in his down time. Most of all, Robert loved nothing more than being with his family and enjoying a huge fish fry.

He is survived by three children: Roger McMillan, Faylea "Fay" Augsburger, and Martin McMillan, all of Burlington, Iowa; two grandchildren: Dalaina (Tim) Burns and Samantha (Matt Seaney) Osborne; four great granddaughters: Cheyenne Nichols, Alivia Burns, Lillian Morse, and Leila Osborne, and two great grandsons: Lucas Seaney and Timothy Burns Jr. and a great-great granddaughter Tinsley Morgan. Also surviving are two sisters: Connie (Jim) Taylor of Quincy, Illinois, and Kathy (Mike) Weiler of Tequesta, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son John McMillan; two brothers: Gary McMillan and Greg "Trampus) McMillan and two sisters: Betty Jo Frank and Bonnie McMillan in infancy.

Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
