ROBERT MERIWEATHER Obituary
Robert Louis Meriweather was born on November 20, 1944, son of the late Edd Lee Meriweather and Lucy Mae Childs Meriweather in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Robert grew up in Clarksville and graduated from Burt High School - Go Burt Tigers! Robert joined the United States Army in 1965 and after his term of service in 1967, Robert moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he met his wife, Alice. They married on February 19, 1970. During their union they had two children, David and Angela.
While living in Indianapolis for many years, Robert worked for the United States Postal Service. He held many roles there but the longest was as a maintenance technician, ensuring the machines were able to process mail quickly.
Robert loved to camp and fish. He and Alice would spend weekends canoeing White River, enjoying nature and each other's company. He also loved to tinker and repair broken electronics in his spare time and watch his favorite sports, football and basketball.
Robert departed this life on Monday evening, January 27, 2025, at the age of eighty years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edd Lee and Lucy Mae Childs Meriweather; his wife, Alice; his mother-in law, Delores Todd; one grandson, Trey Jordan Meriweather; and four brothers, Charles, William (Owen), John (Ricky) and Dwight Meriweather.
Those left to cherish and celebrate his legacy include his son, David (Marti); daughter, Angela (Christopher); grandchildren, Jeremy Starks, William Greenwell, Stacia Meriweather, Brianna Greenwell, Kirby Becker (Clara) and C.J. Campbell; great grandchildren, Kyra and Aviella Algandar; brother, Arthur Meriweather; brother-in law, Robert Green; six sisters, Bertha Langley, Mary Palmer, Shirley Hayes, Velma Hernley, Joyce Blount, and Connie Williams; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
