Robert "Bob" Allen Miene, 78 of Monona, Iowa passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Robert was born February 20, 1945 in San Rafael, California. Bob was put in foster care. Fred and Marie Miene adopted Bob at the age of five. Bob attended MFL School and graduated in 1963. He attended a 2-year program at a Welding School in La Crosse, Wisconsin and graduated a Certified Welder. He worked in Cedar Rapids at Allis Chalmers and Cummings & Co. as an Aluminum Welder. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Picking Ship during the Vietnam War.
Bob was united in marriage with Carol Frana on October 4, 1969 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. To this union three sons were born, Fred, Dan and Bobby. Bob worked as a Plumber for over 40 years at Wirkler Bros, Bill Phossel and Kurt's Plumbing and Heating, later his son, Bobby also became a Plumber and worked with his dad. They called themselves the B & B Team.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors with his sons and fished year around. He also went coon hunting, deer hunting, fox hunting and Pheasant and grouse hunting. He always looked for arrowheads and went sang hunting. After his retirement, Bob mowed lawns and did landscaping and gardening. He also took up art work, making beautiful designs.
Surviving Bob are his wife, Carol of fifty-three years; sons, Fred (special friend, Kate) of Randalia, Iowa, Dan of Florida and Bob (special friend, Deb) of Monona, Iowa; one granddaughter, Brianna Miene; four step-grandchildren, Jared, Michael, Stella and Hannah; sister, Kathy (Joh) Derga of Cascade, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Jo Frana; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gutting of Marshalltown, Iowa; sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marie Miene; father -in-law and mother-in-law, Cyril and Mildred Frana; and Robert Gutting.
There will be a Private Family Service.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation service in Monona, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
