Robert N. Modean, known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, at the age of 88 in Willington, Connecticut. Born on January 11, 1936, Bob lived a full and vibrant life.
Bob's early years were defined by his service to his country. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958 to around 1960, including a deployment to Korea. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
After his honorable discharge, Bob began a long and dedicated career at Pratt and Whitney, where he worked in maintenance. His commitment to his work was evident, and he was well-respected by his colleagues for his reliability and expertise.
Bob's love for sports was undeniable. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Red Sox and the Patriots, rarely missing a game. College basketball also held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed following the season's highs and lows with great interest. His passion for sports was more than just a pastime-it was a way for him to connect with others, share stories, and create memories.
One of Bob's favorite weekly activities was playing pool with his friends. He looked forward to those few hours, where he could unwind and engage in friendly competition. Bob's friends will fondly remember his sharp wit and the laughter that filled the room whenever he picked up a cue.
Bob was predeceased by his ex-wife, Elaine Modean. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Laura (Richard Lord) Brazeau, and took great pride in her accomplishments. Bob's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished the moments spent with them above all else. He is survived by his sister, Betty Cooper who lives in Derry, New Hampshire, and his four nieces.
Bob was often described as funny and friendly, qualities that endeared him to many. His ability to make others laugh and feel at ease was a gift that he freely shared, brightening the lives of those around him. Bob's presence was a source of joy and comfort, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to Robert N. Modean, we celebrate the life of a man who was not only cherished for his humor and friendliness but also admired for his dedication to his family, his country, and his community. His legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
