Robert Moncada Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. He was 81 years old. Robert Moncada, Sr. was born on February 13, 1944, in Hondo, Texas, to the late Victoriano and Clara (Salazar) Moncada. Robert grew up in Saginaw and attended Saginaw Public Schools. As a young boy he and his family worked in the fields throughout Michigan and Ohio. He met the love of his life, Susan Kay McDougall, through mutual friends while working at a carnival. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage March 12, 1977; she survives him. A family man at heart, Robert loved nothing more than to be with his wife, children, and grandchildren. They made his heart feel full and complete. He had a technical and mechanical mind, teaching himself how to fix and remodel houses, as well as repair and finish body work on cars. Robert was employed with Michigan Sugar in Bloomfield Township, retiring after 15 years of loyal and dedicated service. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially camping with his family in Rose City. Robert also enjoyed fishing, as well as making his own sinkers. A selfless man, he’d fix all the kids bikes throughout the neighborhood. Robert also loved animals, especially his dog, Jax, and cat, Smokey, treasuring and cherishing every morning he could spoil them with twinkie’s and toast. Though he could be stubborn, Robert will forever be remembered for being high spirited, for his innate ability to connect and communicate with all people, his selflessness to anyone in need, especially his family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful stories and memories.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Susan K. Moncada of Saginaw; four children: Tina (Charles Jr.) Baston of Saginaw; Robert Moncada II of Saginaw; Sara (Slown) Willette of TN; Mandy (Doyle) Cummings of TN; 15 grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters: Isaac Moncada, Helena Payne, Pedro Moncada, Enrique (Josephine) Moncada, and Alicia Teneyuque; a brother-in-law, Alvin Wioskowski. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends too numerous to mention, but held closely to his heart.
He was preceded in death by a son, Manny Rogers; his parents, Victoriano and Clara Moncada; siblings: Oralia “Lolly” Wioskowski, Jesus Moncada, Carlos Moncada, and Benjamin Moncada.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Tony Jacobs will officiate.
