Elizabeth “Liz” Erin Mapes of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, October 7, 2025. She was 41 years old. Elizabeth Erin Mapes was born on February 24, 1984, in Houston, Texas to Christy Jo (Drager) Hein and Mark Miles Mapes. She attended Swan Valley Public Schools. The role she treasured and cherished the most was to be a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and daughter. An excellent homemaker, Liz, enjoyed working on crafts, thrift shopping, and spending time with her granddaughter. Though she could be eccentric, she will forever be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and innate ability to tell jokes, for selflessly helping anyone in need, and for truly loving her family above all else.
Surviving are her children: Tyler Mikiten, Savanna (Patrick) Panzica, Olivia Mapes, Hunter, Chance, Cruz, Remi, Jameson, and Julianna Bhirdo; two grandchildren: Paisley and Sadie Panzica; father, Mark Miles Mapes; stepfather, Peter (Autumn) Mikiten; five siblings: Raini Lorenz, Raichyl Martin, Mark Allen Mapes, Peter Mikiten, and Theresa Carter. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Christy Jo Hein.
A celebration of Liz’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family c/o Savanna Panzica. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family through www.casefuneralhome.com.
