Robert “Bob” W. Nutter, 94 formerly of Granville and Newark peacefully passed away on December 21, 2025, with his daughter by his side in the Memory Care Unit at The Avalon of New Albany where he resided for the past three years. Bob was born in Hubbard, Ohio on March 13, 1931, as the middle child to George W. and Elsie (Onions) Nutter.
He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and while stationed in Knoxville, TN he met and married Nona (Ford) Nutter on July 16, 1955. After getting married Bob and Nona lived in Hubbard, Ohio and started their family. In 1962, Bob moved his family to Granville and worked at the Newark Air Force Base for 37 years before retiring in 1989.
While living in Granville, Bob was a volunteer fireman with the Granville Fire Department for 20 years and was also involved with the Granville Sertoma Club, American Legion and was a member of the Taylor’s Drug Store Bowling Team.
After retirement, Bob enjoyed his early mornings mowing grass at the Granville Golf Course for several years. Bob was a quiet, easy-going kind of guy, humble and kind, and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. Always willing to lend a hand and put other’s needs in front of his own. Bob had a warm friendly smile along with a great sense of humor and everyone who knew him absolutely loved him. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail Betts (Mike) of Newark, Ohio and his brother, Tom (Beverly) of Hubbard, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George and Elsie, his sister, Elaine and her husband Russ, Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Nona; infant daughter, Cora; son, Greg and his husband, Michael. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at HearthBrook in Newark and on the Memory Care Floor at The Avalon Of New Albany for the love, care and compassion shown to Bob over the past several years. A special thank you to Tina and Dave from The Avalon and Kristina, Karen, Crissy, Eboney, Lisa, Brittany, Kat from Capital City Hospice for their exceptional dedication and loving care of Bob.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville, Ohio.
