Robert M. "Bob" O'Brien

Robert Michael "Bob" O'Brien, 79, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2025, from cancer. A native of Chicago and prior to moving to Delaware in 2006, he lived and worked for many years in Columbia, South Carolina, and Rochester, New York.
Bob enjoyed a long career in information technology, which included domestic and international travel as a project manager, before becoming an independent business consultant. He served as past president and longtime volunteer mentor with SCORE Delaware and was a business counselor with the Women's Business Center of Wilmington, Delaware, where he helped aspiring women entrepreneurs start and grow small businesses.
Over the years Bob participated in a variety of special interest groups. An avid reader, his interests and activities included scuba diving, martial arts, bike riding, travel, birdwatching, photography, storytelling, and cooking. He was known for his quick wit, kind and positive nature, devotion to family and friends, and love of country.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Christine O'Brien, of Hockessin; daughter Tracey O'Brien of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Colleen Baker (Eric) of Orlando, Florida; grandson Justice Baker of Orlando; and his faithful pittie rescue companion, Quinn. He was predeceased by his parents, Grace and James O'Brien, and brother, Bill O'Brien.
Bob was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Wilmington. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 4, 2025, at St. Philip's, 5320 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware, 19808.
