Robert "Bob" Ochoa
April 27, 1936 – July 31, 2025

Robert "Bob" Ochoa, born on April 27, 1936, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2025, at the age of 89. A loving husband, devoted father, proud Marine, supportive coach, and loyal friend.

Bob was an All-Star basketball player in high school, where his natural talent and competitive spirit was already evident. After graduating from Oakland Technical High School, in Oakland, California, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for four years, a testament to his discipline and commitment to service.

Following his service, he built a diverse and successful career - his career began in the technology sector (IBM & HP), moved through the world of real estate, and in his later years, Bob became known for his exceptional abilities in production management and leadership. He spent his final 15 years as a production manager at Gallo Winery in Modesto, California. In every role, Bob was known for his integrity and dedication.

Sports remained a lifelong passion. He continued playing basketball well into his 40s and stayed active into his 50s by playing competitive softball. His passion for sports also extended to coaching young athletes, including his son, in both soccer and baseball. His leadership and encouragement left a lasting impact on many. Bob was recently referred to as, "one of the legendary Modesto Youth Soccer Association figures."

Bob was also a devoted Bay Area sports fan who took great joy in celebrating their triumphs and supporting them through every season. His loyalty to his hometown teams was unwavering, and he was never shy about letting you know exactly where his loyalties lay-often with a grin and a little playful trash talk for anyone rooting for the opposition.

Bob dedicated his life to uplifting others, serving as a trusted mentor to many who faced personal challenges. His ability to guide, encourage, and inspire those around him left a lasting legacy of compassion, wisdom, and hope within his community. One whose absence will be deeply felt.

At the center of Bob's life was family. He was a dedicated and supportive husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Sally; his daughter LaVonne; his son, Scott and his wife TaMara; stepsons, Erik and Jeremy and his wife Christina; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Dorene, his mother Eva, and father Frank.

Bob lived a full and meaningful life and his legacy lives on not just in the memories shared, but in every game coached, guidance offered, and hug given. His wisdom and warmth will forever be remembered by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00pm at North Modesto Church of God, 1918 Sherwood Ave., Modesto, CA. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor Bob's life.
