Robert D. Oliver, 90, of Idaville, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on October 21, 1934 in Lafayette to the late Chester and Ruby (Stanfield) Oliver. On September 10, 1960 he married Carolyn Saubert in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2025.

He was a 1952 graduate of Brookston High School. He went on to serve in the United State Army from 1956 to 1958 while stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He then went to work for ALCOA for 33 years. 

Bob enjoyed small engine repair and tinkered on lawn mowers. He liked reading and watching old cowboy movies. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, farming and square dancing. He always put his family first including his in-laws, niece and nephews. He always provided a stable home.

He is survived by six children, John (Mary) Oliver of Monticello, Bob (Peg) Oliver of Burnettsville, Cathy Oliver (companion Sue Hanaway) of Idaville, Connie (Bill) Foutch of Monticello, David (Denise) Oliver of Battle Ground, Craig (Christen) Oliver of Monticello; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Carolyn, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Irene Pierce, Joel Oliver, Chester Oliver, Mabel Minardo, Ethel Barrett, Clifford Oliver, Maxwell Oliver, Charles Oliver, Eugene Oliver, Myrtle Culver, Agnes Oliver; and a granddaughter, Jessica Oliver.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Nord Zootman officiating.

Burial will follow in Seceeder Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Idaville Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
