Robert Oswald, Jr., 73, passed away at his home in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, June 23, 2025. By his side was his life partner, Linda and his sister, Robyn. Robert was a fighter in spirit and the last six months of his life, he fought a tough battle with congestive heart failure. During this time of greatest need, he was blessed to have his life partner Linda at his side. Her constant loving care comforted him and delivered him to his final resting peace.
Robert was born on December 24, 1951 in the Jackson County Hospital, Moss Point, Mississippi. Robert was a proud 1969 graduate of Pascagoula High School. Robert went on to attend Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College in Gautier, Mississippi, Pensacola Junior College, University of West Florida and Ottawa University in Surprise, AZ. At an early age, he demonstrated a passion for electronics and enjoyed taking apart and rebuilding things. One of his favorite projects was building a sailboat with his dad. They named it "Why" and their motor boat "Why Not."
As computers were introduced, Robert enjoyed learning all about them and building them from scratch. While living in Mesa, AZ, Robert was known by his friends as Marty Laser. Robert also had a strong sense of humor. He enjoyed doing things for fun that would catch you off guard or really surprise you whether he was at home, school, at work, or out with friends just to have a good laugh.
Robert is survived by his life partner, Linda L. Brand; his father, Robert Holmes Oswald of Gulfport, MS; his siblings, Robyn Oswald Fairbanks of Jacksonville, FL, Rebecca Oswald of Montreal, Canada and Pamela Dismukes Perkins (Weldon) of Ocean Springs, MS; his fur friend Queenie Oswald; nine nieces and nephews; fifteen great nieces and nephews; four cousins; a step-daughter, Crystal Unger (Cody) of Bourbon, MO; step-grandchildren, Cynthya, Brandon, and Garrett; a step-great grandson, Stefen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, O'Nari Eudy; his grandparents, George Eudy and wife, Sally Eudy, Charles Alfred Oswald, Jr. and wife Jeanette Bibby Oswald and W. W. "Johnny" Robinson and wife, Viola Estelle Collins Robinson; an aunt, Linda Oswald Goodwin; an uncle, Charles A. Oswald III; his step-mother, Betty Jean Robinson Oswald; and his step-brother, Glenn Porter Dismukes, Jr.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Earlene Flener and Father Anthony of Resurrection Catholic Church in Tempe, AZ for their friendship.
Inurnment will take place at the mausoleum overlooking Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Clair Missouri at a later date.
Arrangements for cremation were made with Bunker Family Funerals and Cremation in Mesa, Arizona.
