Robert "Bo" Palmer, age 80, of Fort Mill, S.C., went to be with the Lord on May 8,2025. Bo was born on February 16,1945, in Chester, S.C. He grew up in Fort Mill where he graduated from Fort Mill High School in 1963. He was a 1967 graduate of The Citadel and received his MBA from Golden Gate University. While at the Citadel, Bo earned his pilot's license and was a member of the Summerall Guard precision drill team. He served with honor in the Air Force from 1967 through 1973. Bo served his country proudly in Vietnam and was a flight instructor while stationed in California. After his military service, Bo worked for Springs Industries for over 30 years. After retirement, Bo enjoyed traveling, gardening and an active social life with many friends who brought joy to his life. Bo loved his community and church. He was a Fort Mill school board trustee from 1989 through 1993. Since 1976, Unity Presbyterian Church has been his church home where he served as both a Deacon and Elder. One of his most memorable accomplishments was serving as co-chair of the building committee which was instrumental in the construction of Unity's new 2010 sanctuary. Most of all, Bo loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan Wilson Palmer, his son Bobby (Jolie), and his grandchildren, Mary Hannah, Matthew, and Mallory. Bo is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Isabel Palmer, his sisters, Mary Ann Palmer and Jane Cox and a son, Matthew John Palmer. A service of celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17,2025 at Unity Presbyterian Church,303 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
