Robert Parsons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hood Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 20, 2026.
Robert Anthony Parsons, son of Grover C. Parsons Jr. and Hazel Geraldine Parsons, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 3rd, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Brenda Wyatt, and his son, Wade Anthony Parsons. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Parsons, and his cherished daughter Jyl Shaver (Darren) and nephew Lee Netherton (Jennifer). His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Baylee Hawkins (Brandon), Jake Parsons (Peyton), Macy Shaver, Harley Shaver (Kayla), Briar Netherton, Axel Parsons, Hudson Hawkins, Emmie Parsons, and Haddie Hawkins.

Robert was a lover of the outdoors, always golfing and taking trips with his wife and his friends. When he was at home, he spent sunny days mowing everyone's lawns and fishing with his favorite fishing buddies, his great-grandkids. His family treasures memories of him playing sports throughout his lifetime and then rarely missing a game of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Robert was a life-long athlete and an avid supporter of his family. The time and love he invested in his family is how he should and will be remembered most. Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His presence in their lives was both reliable and comforting. Even on his bad health days, his family knew the door was always open, and he would be waiting for them on the couch. To his grandkids and great-grandkids, he was a best friend, biggest supporter, fishing partner, and couch snuggle buddy. He was also known to be a bit of a cheater on family game nights, with a competitive spirit. Robert leaves his family and friends with so many memories related to sports, trips, good food, and lots of laughs. His constant presence was like an unspoken glue for his family. The shoes he leaves behind are un-fillable, but the memories and values he leaves behind are equally important and lasting.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Robert's life at a funeral service on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Hood Funeral Home.

While our loss is huge, I can't help but think of Heaven's gain. In your final days of talking, the few words you said were: "I'm ready to go home." Your suffering has ended, and I believe you are home, in a perfectly new, perfectly healthy body. My heart aches for you here, but you finally have a brand new heart that works just right and a body that is cancer-free.

We had plans. We were supposed to get better together. Once we were both healed, we were going to go back to Mississippi to gamble and eat royal reds- a grand celebration of our own. Sometimes healing comes in heaven, and sometimes healing comes on Earth. I guess you just found your healing before I did, and as much as it hurts, I am happy for you at the same time. I also know heaven is having a grand celebration of its own, much better than any Mississippi trip. What a reunion that must be- to be reunited with your Lord, your parents, your sister, your son, and so many others. Our loss is truly their gain. I hope you're singing songs of praise with ol' Bill Parsons already. Save me a seat in the choir.

Pa, all of our kiddos will love and miss you until the day we get to see you again. Thank you for everything,

Macy (and the kiddos)
