Robert Patterson

Robert "Bob" Samuel Patterson, of Leander, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 85. He was born on July 24, 1938, in Lubbock, TX, to Parents J. Lonnie and Rayma Cobb Patterson.
Bob attended Lubbock High School where he graduated in 1956. He attended Texas Tech University for 2 years then received his bachelor's degree from West Texas State University in 1965. He earned his master's degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1967. He started his career at Simmons Machine in Lubbock, as a machinist and welder. In 1960 he became a machine shop instructor at Borger High School, then San Marcos Job Corp. In 1966, he joined the Texas Education Agency as a consultant for Industrial Education, Assistant Director, Director, then Coordinator of Vocational Education. He retired in 1992 as Director of Vocational Education.
Along the way, Bob served for National Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), as Secretary, Vice President, and President of Board of Directors. He served on the National Association of Supervisors of Industrial Education as Secretary, Vice President, and President. Served on Board of Directors of the American Vocational Association as Vice President. Served on Texas Cosmetology Commission, Texas Commission for the Blind, and Texas Automotive Consumer Action Panel. Bob also served on numerous advisory committees for curriculum development at University of Texas, Texas A&M, and East Texas State University.
Bob married Dianna Robinson on July 12, 1959. They welcomed their only child Robert (Bud) Samuel Patterson II on May 20, 1965. Bob and Dianna recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. Bob had many hobbies and interests including Bowling, metal working, woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was hysterically funny with extremely dry humor and could fire off a joke or funny response at the drop of a hat.
Bob always considered Family First, but if you knew him, you were his family! He was always available to serve as a dad, Brother, or friend to anybody that needed it.
Bob is survived by his wife Dianna Patterson, son, Bud and wife Dee Dee Patterson, Grandchildren, Landon and wife Ashley Patterson, Lindy and husband Dakota Heim. Great Grandchild, Emily Bea Patterson. And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Parents, J. Lonnie and Rayma Patterson, Sisters, Joey Gill, and Jeannie Martin.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Maggiano's Italian restaurant at the Domain in Austin, TX on Friday, November 17 from 2:00-5:00 pm. Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, TX is assisting in final arrangements, and have a guest/memory book online.
