Robert Peeler passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. He was Born on August 17, 1941, in Sour Lake, Texas, Robert lived a life filled with dedication, achievement, and love.
Robert proudly served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard for 23 years before retiring and embarking on a new chapter in his life. His passion for education led him to share his knowledge at Lamar State College in Port Arthur, where he excelled as an electronics instructor, imparting wisdom in electronic fabrication and education to countless students.
An accomplished scholar, Robert earned his degree in Speech and Government from Lamar University, followed by a Teaching Certification and a Master’s Degree in Political Science followed by a Master’s in Public Administration. His commitment to lifelong learning and teaching exemplified his character and dedication to his students.
Outside of his professional life, Robert was a man of many interests and talents. He was a proud black belt in Karate, dedicating several years to teaching this discipline to others. His love for music found expression through his guitar-playing, and he cherished the moments spent honing his skills. He also relished visits to the gun range, finding joy in the sport.
In addition to his varied talents, Robert was an avid aviation enthusiast and held a pilot's license for flying small planes. He took great pleasure in bi-annual trips, exploring the skies and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Robert had a special fondness for his dogs, who were truly his greatest companions and sources of unconditional love. Each moment spent with them was a treasured part of his life.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Melanie Irvin Peeler, who stood by him through all of life's endeavors. He is survived by Alaina Peeler, Amy Pullin, and Lauren Burris, and his four grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Stella, and Finn.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marjorie Peeler and his brother, Edward Peeler.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Robert Peeler will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
