Robert Michael Powell, 93, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Settlers Place.
Robert was born in La Porte, IN, on June 7, 1930, to Michael and Ethel (Smith) Powell.
On June 6, 1953 in La Porte, he married Pauline Steinfeldt, who preceded him in death on October 12, 2022. Surviving Robert are his 2 sons, Michael Powell of La Porte and Mark Powell of Longmont, CO; 3 grandchildren, Morgan Powell of Brentwood, TN, McKenzie Powell of South Bend, and Robert Carl Powell of Longmont, CO; sister, Debbie Nixon of La Porte; brother-in-law, Jim Deveraux of Fort Myers, FL; 2 nieces, Sheila Nixon of La Porte and Peggy Deveraux of Cape Coral, FL; nephew, David Deveraux of La Porte; and former daughters-in-law, Ronda Powell of La Porte and Mary Powell of Longmont, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Zinita Deveraux; brother-in-law, Raymond Nixon; and 2 nieces, Kathy Deveraux and Shelly Nixon Games.
Robert was a barber for approximately 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, raising cattle, horses, and chickens, growing Christmas trees, and fishing, particularly with his grandchildren. Robert will be very fondly remembered for dearly loving his wife, Pauline Powell.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
