Robert E. "Rob" Rickell

Robert Eugene "Rob" Rickell, 58 of Hanover, PA., formerly of Westminster, died Friday March 31, 2023, at the WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, from many years with chronic kidney complications. Born January 15, 1965, in Carroll County, he was the son of Rebecca Ann "Beckie" Rickell of Union Mills, and the late Gerald Rickell. Rob was a 1983 graduate of Westminster High School and received an associate degree in art from Catonsville Community College. He began his culinary career working as kitchen manager for the Bullock family at the Airport Inn and then until his illness at Bullocks County Family Restaurant. He was a member of St. Mary's United Church of Christ in Silver Run. He had a great passion for cooking, he enjoyed celebrating and often cooking great meals for his family and friends. He was an amateur weatherman observer. He enjoyed canning and family gatherings. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are brother and wife Michael Gerald and Amy Rickell of Union Mills and a stepdaughter Melanie Bloch, aunts and uncles Dot and Steve Dutterer and Jane Sharpe, and special friends "Aunt" Darlene Lyons and family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 11, 2023, at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, MD 21157 with his pastor the Rev. Sam Chamelin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 10th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment will be in St. Mary's UCC Cemetery.
