Robert Stanley Ridenour was born on September 16, 1936, in Dallas, TX, to Hugh Stanley Ridenour and Laura Bell Singleton Ridenour. Robert was their only child.
His father remarried and had a daughter named Linda Ridenour. Robert spent summers with his father, his stepmom Florence Levias Arroqui, and his sister Linda, who lived in Redlands, California.
Robert attended Forest Avenue High School and was in the ROTC. After high school, he was planning to join the US Coast Guard but decided to attend Texas A&M University.
Robert met Mary Alice Joines in high school and they were married on November 18, 1955, in Dallas, TX, and were married for 68 years, before Mary Alice passed away. They were the parents of three boys: Dale, Paul, and David.
Robert and Mary Alice taught 10th grade Sunday School at East Grand Baptist Church for many years. He played fastpitch softball for the church men's team and coached fastpitch and slowpitch church youth softball teams, including coaching his sons. He was a lifelong church deacon and a longtime member of First Baptist Church Rockwall.
Robert enjoyed weekend water skiing trips and family snow skiing trips to Colorado and Utah. He and his wife also played tennis. Robert loved cars and cats.
When Robert was age 55, he started his own company called The Ridenour Company. The company did HVAC and plumbing for buildings all over the Dallas Metroplex. A very successful company that he sold when he retired at 65.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice, his parents, his stepmom, and his stepsisters Marcia Pine and Barbara White.
He is survived by his sister Linda Ridenour Pfiffner and husband Patrick, sons Dale Ridenour and wife Deborah, Paul Ridenour and wife Dottie, David Ridenour and wife Sharon, grandsons Rusty Ridenour and wife Ashlynn, Matthew Ridenour and wife Tami, Grant Ridenour and wife Jacque, Calvin Ridenour and wife Chloe, granddaughter London Ridenour Matter and husband Dawson, great grandsons Pierce Ridenour and Marshall Matter, great granddaughters Quincey Janeway and Marjorie Matter, nieces Mary Lynn Graves-Anderson and Kathy Graves Burns and husband Rob, great nieces Amanda Anderson and Samantha Burns, great nephew Matthew Burns, and 2nd great niece Erin Anderson, nephews James Stanley Pfiffner and wife Lanae, Jeffrey Allen Pfiffner and wife Erin, three great nephews, and two great nieces.
