Robert "Bob" Thomas Ridings passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, with his devoted partner, Wendy, by his side.

Bob was born January 13, 1960, in White Hall, Illinois, the son of James and Helen (Capps) Ridings.

Bob was a dedicated farmer whose life was rooted in hard work and genuine care for others. He had a special love for his cows, cats, and the land he tended. Farming wasn't just his livelihood-it was his way of life, and he approached it with patience, dedication, and respect for the simple, steady rhythm of nature. He had a connection to all of his cows, but Baby Girl held a special place in his heart.

Known for his generosity, Bob never hesitated to help anyone in need. Whether through a kind word, a strong hand, or a listening ear, he had a way of making people feel valued. He valued deep conversations, often taking time to truly connect with others. He enjoyed a cup of black coffee, a good history book or crossword puzzle, and a cigar. Bob never rushed through life-he moved at his own thoughtful pace, teaching all who knew him the beauty of slowing down and being present.

He will be remembered not only for the work of his hands but also for the kindness of his heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the lessons he quietly shared.

Bob is survived by his loving partner of 23 years, Wendy (Kline) Martin of Springfield, bonus children, Patrick (Gwen) Martin of Winter Garden, Lyndsi (Adam) Reid of Rochester, sister Sarah (Ridings) Heikes of Petersburg, niece Katie Heikes, nephew Will Heikes, and his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Beck, Lily, Mick, Ryan, and Chase. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Eric Heikes.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse from 1 to 3 p.m., with a prayer service to follow. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, North Greene Food Pantry (White Hall), or a local cat rescue of your choice.

Bob's life was a reminder that the simplest joys-quiet moments, good company, and caring for others-are the greatest treasures of all.
