On July 5, 2025, Ms. Lois Ridings passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Born in Marble Hill, Georgia, to the late Rembert James and Edna Jones James, Lois lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Lois was the loving wife of the late Tyre Ridings, and together they shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. She had a passion for basketball in her younger years, playing through high school, and later found joy in gardening, collecting family history, and preserving memories through pictures. A true homebody at heart, Lois loved nothing more than being in the comfort of her home, where her heart truly belonged. A lifelong member of Marble Hill Baptist Church, Lois was baptized in 1954 at the age of 15, beginning a journey of faith that would guide her throughout her life. She never met a stranger and had a gift for conversation. Whether she was planning her high school reunions or chatting with friends around town, Lois brought warmth and kindness wherever she went. She worked for many years at the sewing plant, where she built lifelong friendships with "the girls," and was proudly known to many as "the Avon Lady"-a title she carried with grace and a smile. Lois's greatest joy was her family. When she became a mother and then a grandmother, being home with them became her greatest priority. She made sure her grandchildren always had someone to love them, care for them, and share stories with. She gave her family the greatest gift-her time, her presence, and her heart.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Margie James, Lucy James, Sue James and Mary Ann Bozeman, sister-in-law, Lynn James and her son-in-law, Kenneth Lambert.
Her absence will be deeply felt by her surviving family, daughters, Rebecca Lambert, Melissa (Kenny) Payne, grandsons, Jacob Lambert, Ethan (Jessie) Gibson, great-grandchildren, Ansley and Liam Gibson, and one on the way, brothers, Phillip James, Jerry James, sister, Eliza (Larry) Ray. Several nieces, nephews and cousins, also survive to cherish Lois' memory.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from six in the evening until nine at night, Monday, July 7, 2025, from 10 in the morning until nine at night and Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from nine in the morning until the service hour.
Lois' funeral service will be conducted in The Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11 in the morning with Rev. Alan Day, Rev. Harold Bottoms and Rev. Kenney Sutton officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Lake Forest Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Mike James, Ron Fellenbaum, Justin Fellenbaum, Brady Clayton, Timothy James and Scott Jordan.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and will be accepting flowers, or donations can be made to Marble Hill Baptist Church.
