Robert E. Rieman, fondly known as "Bob," was born in Wilmington, DE, on August 3, 1943, and passed away on September 28, 2024. He was the only child of Eldor and Eleanor Rieman. Bob was happiest playing and watching baseball, especially the Phillies, and he and his son, Jon, attended games for over three decades. He was always ready for a catch and supported both his stepson, Jeff, and grandson, Jeffrey, in their baseball and basketball activities.
A graduate of Rider University, Bob spent time working for the State of Delaware. Prior to retirement in 2007, Bob worked at the University of Delaware for 20 years as a financial manager in the Division of Continuing Education. In his supervisory role, he enjoyed working with his staff, mentoring and encouraging them to take on new challenges.
Whether it was baseball or travel, Bob loved spending time with his family. A trip to the Grand Canyon with his daughter, Stacy, turned into an adventure. Travels to Duluth, Minnesota to visit his son, Jon, and his wife, were very special moments including serving as best man in Jon's wedding. He was proud of teaching his grandson, Jeffrey, to play bumper cars in their excursions to Dutch Wonderland.
Bob's contributions to the wider community included many years of volunteer service in the Presbyterian Church. He later became a member of the First Unitarian Church.
Bob had a warmth and understanding of people that led him to offer help and solace to friends and family alike. He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor which lightened many gatherings. He wore a Mickey Mouse watch throughout his life so that "I don't take myself too seriously."
Bob, a caring and warm husband, father, grandfather, and friend, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Donna Tuites; his daughters, Stacy and Allison; his son, Jonathan (Stephanie); his stepson, Jeff Tuites; his four grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, Sean and Sarah; and his two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Florence Rieman. Bob will be missed by his in-laws, James Tuites (Mary), Barbara Davis (Courtney), Thomas Tuites (Claire) and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
