Robert "Bob" Rio

Robert Peter Rio, known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Media, Pennsylvania. Born on July 1, 1938, to the late Peter and Anna (Chopper) Rio, Bob's warmth and spirit for life left an indelible mark on those who knew him. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Dolores (Rio) Carr.
Bob's life was one of dedication and love. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara (Franzki) Rio, and a loving father to his daughters, Anna (Rio) Melito and Alexandra (Rio) O'Donnell. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of each of his grandsons, Philip Melito, Luke Melito, Tyler O'Donnell, and Max O'Donnell, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor. Bob is also survived by his brother William Rio.
Bob was a proud graduate of St. Joseph's College, and an accountant by trade. Beyond his professional life, Bob was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for travel and the arts. His musical talent was a source of joy and entertainment at family gatherings and a hobby that he cherished deeply. Bob's sense of humor was legendary; he had a knack for storytelling that could light up any room. Those who knew him would describe Bob as not just funny, but also friendly and interesting-a man who could engage with anyone on any topic with genuine curiosity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Boys Town would be appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to Bob's visitation on Thursday October 24, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, corner of Monroe & Franklin Streets, Media. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30 am. Interment Private.
