Robert Ritter Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Robert Francis Ritter, 75, of Norwood, peacefully passed away at home on September 12, 2025 surrounded by his children after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Bob was born on June 30, 1950, in Baltimore, MD, to the late George A. & Claire L. (nee Schneider) Ritter. He was the second oldest of 5 children, including 3 brothers and 1 sister. He spent his professional years at Westinghouse and Boeing, making many friends along the way. Those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives knew him to be extremely thoughtful and kind. He had a dry sense of humor and his generosity knew no bounds.
Bob was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Boppi". He is survived by Amanda L. Ritter (Fred), Stephanie L. Zavorski (Steve), and Justin R. Ritter (Marisa); as well as 6 grandchildren (Liam, Rosie, Simon, Emery, Riley and Ruth).
He loved seeking out yard sales on the weekends with friends and family, and was an expert in finding a good deal. In 2017 when his beloved wife Joyce (nee Scott) passed, he invested his time into maintaining her garden and learning how to bake her cookie recipes, which kept her memory alive year after year. He had many collections, including trading cards, coins, trucks, bottles and more, that spanned decades. He enjoyed sweet treats, trips to the casino, watching his programs, and had a love / hate relationship with Philly sports teams. He was a man of strong faith, and his connection with the church brought him comfort, strength, and a community of friends and cancer survivors.
As we remember Bob, we celebrate a life lived with purpose. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and a kind-heartedness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Bob Ritter's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday September 17, 2025 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. George Catholic Church, 11 Lamont Ave, Glenolden. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to one of his favorite charities which include St. Jude's, SPCA or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
