Robert T. "Bob" Ryan, Jr., age 81, resident of Naperville, IL since 1984 formerly of Chicago, Mount Prospect and Milwaukee, WI, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville, IL. He was born June 13, 1942, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved husband of the late Raylyn Ryan (nee Fielder) and the late Mary Jane Ryan (nee Calmes), loving father of Kevin (Dawn) Ryan and Doreen Ryan (John, Sr.) Felix, loving step-father of Edward Fink and Kristina (Brian) May, adored grandfather of Bailey, Connor, Riley and Finley Ryan; Kayla McKinney; Jason Fink, Eden and Alaina May, devoted son of the late Robert T., Sr. and Grace (nee Ludwig) Ryan, dear brother of Karen Kist, Maureen Ryan, Nicholas "Nick" (Teresa) Ryan, Susan (Dana) Malone and the late Terrence Ryan, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Bob grew up in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood and the family moved to Mount Prospect, IL when he was age 11. He attended grade school at St. John's School for the Deaf, Milwaukee, WI, middle school at St. Rita School for the Deaf, Evendale, OH. Bob was a 1961 graduate of Prospect High School, Mount Prospect where he played linebacker on a state championship football team. After high school, Bob worked as a carpenter, a union printer and for 34 years as a Maintenance Technician at Marquette Companies, Naperville.
Bob enjoyed playing golf and was a proud 25-year member of the Midwest Deaf Golfers Association (MDGA).
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, June 21, 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Fr. Joseph Mulcrone officiating. Please wear green to celebrate Bob's Irish heritage.
Interment: Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.
A reception will follow at Elements at Water Street, Hotel Indigo, 123 Water St, 2nd Floor, Naperville, IL 60540, (630) 717-2800.
