Robert James Satava. Born October 24, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Albert and Elsie Alice Satava (both deceased). Bob grew up in Bedford, Ohio and graduated from Bedford High School in 1949. He was in the Latin Club and National Honor Society and had the lead in his senior play. He graduated from Ohio University in 1953.
His interests were singing, acting, bicycling, ping pong, tennis, roller skating, skiing, weight lifting, and sailing. He raced sports cars all over the eastern part of the country for nine years.
He bought a motorbike in 1945 and then graduated to motorcycles. He owned 35 MG roadsters and 33 motorcycles during his lifetime. He was president of The Cleveland Sport Car Club for five terms. Also, a long-time member for over 69 years holding various other committee positions. He organized and entered many road rallies.
He restored a number of cars and motorcycles. He was a judge for many years at the Stan Hywet annual Concours d'Elegance. He was a long term member of The Antique Motorcycle Club of America as well as President of the local chapter for four years.
He spent his working life in the insurance industry holding engineering, sales and management positions with various property and casualty companies in the area.
His brother, Donald (deceased), lived in
Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Bob married Kathy (nee Petrich) in 1959 and lived in Maple Heights, Ohio for seven years. They then moved to Solon, Ohio in the sixties. Kathy passed away in 1969 after she had a son, Robert Alan.
Bob also had a good close relationship with Susan Rochford of nearby Northfield, Ohio. Their friendship lasted over forty years.
Bob passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024 from pneumonia.

Graveside Service Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Solon, at 11:00 a.m. (Please meet at the cemetery gate.) The family will receive friends at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 95 S. FRANKLIN ST., CHAGRIN FALLS ON TUESDAY DECEMBER 17 FROM 4 TO 7 P.M.
