A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Robert D. Saterfield, Sr., 80, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with his children officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.

Mr. Saterfield was born June 3, 1942, and passed away April 16, 2023. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and the LA State Troopers Association. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason and was a Life Boy Scout.

Mr. Saterfield graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1960. He excelled in sports and reached his peak as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He loved the Arts and was talented in them. He created art from Iron and would share his pieces with everyone. He enjoyed drawing and painting, horticulture, and loved his dachshunds (Scarlet and Sophie). He loved to cook on his homemade grill and feed the masses to include every friend ever made down to his grandkids’ friends. Pop loved everyone and showed respect to all! He enjoyed every moment spent with his family and friends. He was the father of five, grandfather of ten, and great grandfather of nine with one on the way. He talked about his grandchildren with beaming pride and his great grandchildren were all he talked about in his last days.

Our daddy was a man of his word, no matter how great the demand and left us with lessons that will last our lifetime. He had a bond that was truly unbreakable with his lifelong best friend and big brother, Ken Saterfield. He also had a best friend for life in LM Welch, their love for one another was a wonder to behold and they considered each other to be brothers.

Survivors include his brothers, Ken Saterfield (Cindy) and Lawrence Mackenzie Saterfield; sisters, Liz Medlin and Wanda Medlin; sons, Robert D. Saterfield, Jr. (Tracey), Daniel “Todd” Saterfield (Dawn), and Jeffery Tyler Saterfield who was also his caregiver and confidante; daughters, Molly Saterfield Hendrix (Stevie) and Susan Elizabeth Saterfield; grandchildren, Brittney Hendrix Evans (Dillon), Timothy “TJ” Justin Hendrix (Sarah), Amanda “Mandy” Maree Saterfield, Derek “Levi” Saterfield, Zachary “Zac” Adam Corrent (Heather), Joseph Anatole Corrent, Christian Brooke Ell (Zac), Gabrielle Maxine Henry, Nathaniel Robert Saterfield, and Landon Matthew Saterfield; great grandchildren, Colten Reese Evans, Mary Grace Evans, Aubrey James Hendrix, Mack Heywood Hendrix, Revlyn Faye Corrent, Henry Robert Ell, Rawlings Reese Ell, Riggins Rhys Ell, Elizabeth Rose Frink, and baby Corrent due November 2023; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Our daddy wishes to thank Dr. Mark Napoli and his team for their dedication to his health over the last few years. He thought Dr. Napoli was a genius and hung the moon! He and our family also wanted to thank Amanda Ates for being a beacon when we felt lost, St. Vincent DePaul Community Pharmacy, Mr. John and his team for easing the burden of the expenses associated with his treatments- just priceless, Angie Addison-5th floor Nurse, Katie, Ben – ER Nurses and Joshua -Aide 5th floor for providing the utmost care, comfort and support while in the hospital.  Also, we would like to thank Roni and Tom Mulhearn for their friendship, compassion, love, and guidance when our family needed it most.

Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy “TJ” Justin Hendrix, Derek “Levi” Saterfield, Zachary “Zac” Adam Corrent, Nathaniel Robert Saterfield, Landon Matthew Saterfield, Colten Reese Evans, Mack Heywood Hendrix, Timothy “Tim” Allen Antley, and Dillon Clark Evans.
